L’article vise à montrer que l’approche régulationniste peut éclairer l’analyse des dynamiques de transition vers l’usage des ressources renouvelables en mobilisant le concept de patrimoines productifs collectifs. On s’appuie sur l’étude du cas de la «chimie doublement verte» pour identifier les patrimoines à l ’ œuvre et la façon dont ils sont le support de stratégies d’acteurs qui contribuent à réguler le changement technologique. On peut ainsi enrichir à la fois les analyses des systèmes sectoriels d’innovation et les démarches de management de la transition qui les mobilisent. Cela conduit, en effet, à rejeter l’hypothèse que l’adoption d’un dominant design est le moteur de la régulation du changement et la seule voie de transition vers un nouveau système sociotechnique soutenable. La reconnaissance d’une diversité technologique peut, au contraire, jouer un rôle crucial dans la gestion de la transition vers un développement soutenable.
The article aims to show that the Régulation approach can inform the analysis of transitions towards the use of renewable resources by using the concept of productive collective heritage. It is based on the case study of the “doubly green chemistry” to identify these productive collective heritages at work and how they support stakeholders’ strategies that help us to regulate technological change. By that way, we can enrich both analyses of sectorial systems of innovations and the approach of Sustainability Transition Management. This leads to reject the hypothesis that adoption of a dominant design is the main driver of the management of technological change and the only way towards a new sustainable sociotechnical system. The recognition of a techno¬ logical diversity may instead play a crucial role in managing the tran¬ sition to sustainable development.
