L'article examine la question de l'impact des systèmes politiques sur les niveaux régionaux de la fécondité en Europe. Après avoir défini un cadre général d'analyse des effets spatiaux des systèmes politiques, les auteurs présentent différents outils susceptibles de rendre compte de l'homogénéisation statistique et spatiale des comportements démographiques des Etats ou d'ensembles supranationaux. Dans le cas de la fécondité en Europe, l'analyse révèle qu'il existe une dépendance forte entre les comportements régionaux ou locaux et l'appartenance à un système politique. L'interprétation de cette dépendance repose sur trois familles d'hypothèses relatives à l'organisation des systèmes politiques.
Frontiers, political Systems and Fertility in Europe. This article examines the question of impact of political systems on regional levels of fertility in Europe. After they have defined the general context of the political systems' spatial effects, the authors present different tools which may be able to give an account of statistical and spatial homogeneization of demograhical behaviours in States or supranational groups. In the case of fertility in Europe, the analysis reveals strong interdependencies between regional or local behaviours and the adherence to political systems. The interpretation of these interdependencies is based on three families of assumptions connected with political systems organization.
