Dans ses efforts visant à prendre en compte les critiques adressées au PIB, la comptabilité nationale bénéficie de la contribution de la statistique sociale. Dans la dernière décennie, celle‑ci a développé d’importantes innovations comme les comptes par catégorie de ménages, fourni aussi d’utiles éléments empiriques et méthodologiques au problème de l’évaluation de la production domestique ou celui de la prise en compte des dimensions non monétaires. Elle a aussi été très active dans le nouveau domaine de « l’économie du bonheur » (avec la mesure du bien‑être subjectif). L’article propose une discussion critique des travaux conduits sur ces thèmes par la statistique publique.
In its efforts to take the criticisms levelled against GDP into consideration, national accounting benefits from the contribution made by social statistics. In the last decade, it has developed major innovations, such as accounts by household category, and it has provided other useful empirical and methodological tools to address the problem of evaluating domestic production and of taking into account non‑monetary dimensions. It has also been very active in the new field of “the economics of happiness” (with the measurement of subjective well‑being). This paper offers a critical discussion of the work carried out in these areas by official statistics.
