La figuration surréaliste de l'histoire comme processus métaphorique et métamorphique est une constante dans l'écriture poétique d'Octavio Paz. J'utiliserai deux poèmes tirés du corpus de l'auteur mexicain («Entre la piedra y la flor» et «Salamandra») pour expliquer le traitement mythique à la fois de sa poésie et d'une partie de ses essais.
La figuración surrealista de la historia como proceso metafórico y metamórfico es una constante en la escritura lírica de Octavio Paz. Valiéndome de dos poemas clave («Entre la piedra y la flor» y «Salamandra»), analizaré los procedimientos retóricos que permiten al autor mexicano dar un tratamiento mítico tanto a su poesía como a parte de su obra ensayística.
Octavio Paz's lyric output is informed by the surrealist presentation of history as an ongoing series of metamorphoses and metaphorical ruptures. Focusing on the key poems «Entre la piedra y la flor» and «Salamandra», I will analyze the rhetorical strategies by which the Mexican author subjects both his poetry and many of his prose essays to a mythical treatment.
