Il s’agit d’une description des services dans le secteur externe des économies insulaires. Elle énumère ceux qui ont contribué à façonner ces économies dans le passé. Elle analyse le rôle actuel des services et leurs perspectives d’avenir. Elle explique la relation entre l’importance du secteur et le choix des services exploités d’une part et la géographie, la technologie et le cadre historique, politique, culturel et juridique d’autre part. Elle souligne l’importance de l’adaptation constante de ce secteur à l’évolution de l’économie mondiale.
Characteristics of the export of services in island countries This paper is a description of services in the external sector of island economies, and lists those which have contributed to the creation of these economies in the past. The present role of the service sector, and its future prospects are analyzed, and the relationship is explained between, on the one hand, the importance of the sector and the choice of services established, and on the other hand the geography and technology and the historical, political, cultural and legal framework in which they are operating. We stress how important this sector should be constantly adapting to the changing world economy.
