El artíulo propone una mirada e interpretación etnohistórica de la inserción de los indígenas chaqueños en la sociedad hispanocriolla del Noroeste Argentino. Las reducciones no religiosas y la venta de cautivos, son algunos aspectos desconocidos dentro de las formas de relación, prácticas y discursos, que entre los indios del Chaco y los españoles se generaron en la frontera oriental de Jujuy a fines del siglo XVII y principios del siglo XVIII.
