Le barrage des Trois Gorges, en construction sur le Yangzijiang, sera le plus grand barrage au monde. Le gigantisme du projet et sa médiatisation croissante en Occident permettent d’en saisir les enjeux environnementaux et humains. On analyse les grandes caractéristiques du projet et ses conséquences premières avant d’aborder le travail de recherche de l’équipe SIG de l’IGA de Grenoble qui vise à préparer la relocalisation de plus d’un million d’habitants, et à modéliser les impacts démographiques et sociaux.
The Three Gorges dam, under construction on the Yangzijiang, will be the world’s biggest dam ever. The gargantuan scale and growing western media coverage of the project give an idea of its environmental and human implications. This paper first outlines the main characteristics and consequences of the dam project. It then presents the research work of the GIS team from the Institut de Géographie Alpine (IGA) in Grenoble, whose main aim is to analyse the resettlement of over one million people and to model its demographic and social impacts.
La futura represa de las Tres Gargantas sobre el Yangzijiang se constituira en la más grande del mundo. El gigantismo del proyecto y su creciente mediatización en el Occidente permiten entender sus desafíos medioambientales y humanos. Despues de enumerar las grandes características del proyecto, se presentan las primeras consecuencias y se describe rapidamente el trabajo del equipo SIG del Instituto de Geografía Alpina de Grenoble, orientado a analisar la relocalización de más de un millón de habitantes, y a modelizar sus impactos demográficos y sociales.
