ABSTRACT Because it is based on different origins, the climatological vocabulary is not very consistent. Its terminology does not keep pace with the advance of knowledge. Several concepts cannot be used owing to their vague meanings and it makes communication difficult. This critical study provides some attempts to make things clear.
RÉSUMÉ Du fait de son origine disparate, le vocabulaire climatologique manque de cohérence. La terminologie n 'évolue pas au rythme du progrès des connaissances. Leur flou rend inutilisable nombre de concepts et complique la communication. Cette analyse critique s'accompagne de quelques propositions de clarification.
