A chemical cartoon conceived by Ernest Fourneau – In 1924, this cartoon was realised by a French specialist of scientific pictures, Dr Comandon. On a scientific point of view, a French pharmacist Ernest Fourneau conceived it. Its purpose was to present to an audience of students, the way Ernest Fourneau and his group, namely Jacques and Thérèse Tréfouël, succeeded in discovering the secret formula of Bayer 205, a new compound efficient against sleeping sickness. They prepared Fourneau 309 and proved, using pharmacomodulation, that it was the most efficient product of the series and as active as Bayer 205. This innovative cartoon described for the first time the methods of research in medicinal chemistry.
Un film d’animation de chimie conçu par Ernest Fourneau – En 1924, ce film d’animation a été réalisé par un spécialiste français du film scientifique, le Dr Comandon. D’un point de vue scientifique, ce film a été conçu par le pharmacien français, Ernest Fourneau. Son propos était de présenter à un auditoire d’étudiants le chemin emprunté par Fourneau et son groupe, en particulier Jacques et Thérèse Tréfouël, pour découvrir la formule secrète du Bayer 205, un nouveau composé efficace contre la maladie du sommeil. Ils préparèrent le Fourneau 309 et prouvèrent, au moyen de pharmacomodulations que c’était le produit le plus efficace de la série et qu’il était aussi actif que le Bayer 205. Ce dessin animé innovant décrivait pour la première fois, les méthodes de la recherche en chimie thérapeutique.
