Le contenu pollinique de limons fluviatiles découverts à Fampoux (nord de la France) peut être comparé aux enregistrements du début du glaciaire Weichselien dans le nord de l'Europe, mais présente cependant une tendance plus tempérée. Une forêt de conifères (pin, épicéa) et feuillus (essentiellement le noisetier) couvre la région. Ces dépôts sont surmontés par une tourbe holocène datée par le 14C, à son tour recouverte par les colluvions limoneuses mises en mouvement lors du déboisement anthropique.
The fluvial silty sediments discovered at Fampoux (northern France) contain palynologieal spectra that may be compared to the early Weichselian records of northern Europe. The regional conifer (pine, spruce) and hardwood (mostly hazel) forest however presents a milder trend. Above these sediments are two layers of organic and peaty silts, overlaid by a 14C-dated holocène fen-peat ; so the valley floor gets more and more marshy. It is covered by a local or nearby hazel thicket during the early postglacial. Some oaks, pines and elms are present too. The middle postglacial is characterized by the presence of lime, alder and the Cyperaceae. The upper peat layer is covered by silts originating from the man- deforested slopes of the valley. These sediments present upper postglacial palynologieal spectra, characterized by deforestation, and by the presence of cereals and ruderals, 14C-dated events of Gallo-Roman age.
