Pour l’individu ancré dans le monde matériel et tissé de matérialité, les frontières du jour et de la nuit apparaissent empreintes d’une régularité astronomique. Mais qu’en est-il pour le cyberjoueur ? Celui-ci s’investit dans un espace-temps remodelé et artificiel où le concept de nuit se développe en de multiples définitions, où les nuits s’entrecoupent et s’entrechoquent, où l’on pourrait évoquer un concept d’univers de non-nuits et de non-jours, ou encore hors de la nuit, hors du jour. Ces redéfinitions de la nuit sont-elle alors porteuses de confusion spatio-temporelle ou bien initient-elle, chez l’usager du cyberespace, une réorganisation de ses représentations ? Lorsque, à travers le cyberespace, on n’expérimente plus seulement le Monde mais des mondes, l’expérience et la sémantique de la nuit se trouvent modifiés. Alors, aux carrefours du cyberespace y a-t-il enrichissement ou déperdition de la nuit ?
Night at the crossroads of cyberspace For a person firmly rooted in the material world woven out of material things, the frontiers between day and night seem to be marked with astronomic regularity. But does the same hold true for the cyberplayer ? He becomes involved in a re-forged, artificial time-space where the concept of night develops through a multitude of definitions, where nights crossover and run into each other, where we could speak of a concept of a world of non-nights and non-days, or even a world beyond night and day. Do these new definitions of night inspire spatial and temporal confusion, or do they spark off a reorganisation of representations with users of cyberspace ? When, through cyberspace, we test out not only the World but also other worlds, the experience and semantics of the night are modified. At the crossroads of cyberspace, is there an enrichment or a loss of night ?
Die Nacht am Cyberspace-Treffpunkt Für das Individuum, das in der Welt körperlich verankert ist, scheinen die Tages- und Nachtgrenzen von einer astronomischen Regelmäßigkeit geprägt. Aber wie steht es für den Cyberspieler ? Dieser erlebt eine künstliche Raumzeit, wo sich der Nachtbegriff in vielfaltigen Definitionen entwickelt, wo man sich eine Weltanschauung von Nichtnächten und von Nichttagen vorstellen könnte. Tragen dann diese Neudefinitionen der Nacht zu einer raumzeitlichen Verwirrung, oder führen sie beim Benutzer des Cyberspaces zu einer Neugestaltung seiner Vorstellungen ein ? Als man durch den Cyberspace nicht nur die Welt sondern Welten erprobt, werden Erfahrung und Semantik der Nacht geändert. Gibt es dann Bereicherung oder Verminderung des Nachtkonzepts ?
