Bernard Vogler : The admission of students to the Theology Faculty (1872-1918). The Theology Faculty admitted a large number of students, two thirds of whom were Germans coming mostly from nearby areas and the kingdom of Prussia. From Alsace, students came primarily from the northern rural and Saverne areas, as well as from Strasbourg. They were mostly sons of pastors, handworkers, farmers and teachers. They were less inclined than their fellow German students to go on to other universities.
La Faculté de théologie a bénéficié d’un important recrutement, composé de près de deux tiers d’Allemands, issus surtout des régions proches et du royaume de Prusse. Les étudiants alsaciens viennent avant tout des régions rurales du nord et de l’arrondissement de Saverne, ainsi que de Strasbourg. Ils se recrutent surtout parmi les fils de pasteurs, d’artisans, d’agriculteurs et d’enseignants. Ils fréquentent moins volontiers d’autres universités que les Allemands.
