Les conditions matérielles, sociales et culturelles de la géographie française sont analysées, des axes porteurs sont identifiés, et des propositions sont esquissées, à la suite d'une large enquête.
Report on French geography. — French geography is healthier and more creative than its social and academic status would lead one to believe. Its international position is weakened, but new perspectives may be in the offing, if an active minority which has fostered then coalesces, and if the tight bind of the conservative system is broken. The material, social and cultural conditions of French geography are analyzed, major directions identified, and propositions outlined, on the basis of an extensive study.
