The present relations between the Pope and thefaithful are characterized by their fréquent and direct nature ; the discourses concern questions of actuality, and they are marked by a ver y personal quality. The theological évaluation of thèse addr esses is clarified not so much by the doctrine of the infallible magisterium, as by Vatican II's conception ofthe différent types of discourse in the Church : preaching, witness and theology fDei Verbum 8) ; this implies différent manners in which the person is involved in his ministerial acts.
